Rajya Sabha Election: Voting for Rajya Sabha elections 2024 is to be held on 27 February. Samajwadi Party has geared up for this. By forming an alliance with Congress, Akhilesh has made it easier for his third candidate to reach Rajya Sabha. A total of 56 seats from 15 states are becoming vacant in April. Voting for this is to be held on 27th February. However, candidates have been selected unopposed on 41 seats in 12 states.
Now voting for 15 seats in three states is to be held on February 27. These three states are Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka. Bharatiya Janata Party wants to send its 11th candidate to Rajya Sabha, but Akhilesh has made his path easier by forming an alliance with Congress.
How did the path become easy for Akhilesh?
In Uttar Pradesh, a Rajya Sabha MP requires 37 votes to win. In such a situation, Samajwadi Party will need 111 votes to ensure victory for its three candidates. They have a total of 108 MLAs, but two of them are in jail. Pallavi Patel has also made it clear that she will not vote in favor of her party. In such a situation, the MLAs of Samajwadi Party are reduced to 105. Even if both the jailed MLAs are allowed to vote, Akhilesh will still need five additional votes.
By forming an alliance with Congress, Akhilesh has secured two votes. He will still need at least three votes. He may also get the votes of Rajbhaiya and RLD MLAs. After talking to Rajabhaiya, he has almost cleared things and will get two votes from here. At the same time, some RLD MLAs are considered close to him and by getting the votes of these MLAs, Akhilesh can send his third candidate to Rajya Sabha.
